Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear friends,

Today the Lord is inviting us to be “spiritually smart”.  When we love with the love of the Holy Spirit we are wise and intelligent, because love gives us a vision to “see through”.

In the Gospel, Jesus calls the rich man a “fool” because his foolishness consists in myopia. When we are stuck in the temporal goods (physical or psychological desires) we suddenly turn unintelligent because our way of living doesn’t see all things in the light of eternity, mindful that He who gives us the breath of life could at any moment—this night even—demand it back from us.

I suggest we practice a constant exercise of gratitude, realizing everything as a gift, and a daily action of generosity.

God bless!
