Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

In today's Gospel, the disciples are surprised by Jesus' actions. While a storm is rocking their boat and causing great distress, Jesus sleeps. When they wake Him, Jesus commands the wind and the sea to "Be still" and the disciples are surprised at the calmness that follows.

How often are we surprised by Jesus and His actions in our lives? The disciples ask, "Who is this that even the wind and sea obey?", while we know Jesus - in all of His divinity and power - and yet we are still surprised when He moves and inspires newness in our lives.

Today's reading is a good reminder that God is so much bigger than we think. He's bigger than our lives, our families, our city, this year of 2024 - He's bigger than the wind and the weather! Let us take this opportunity to renew our trust in the Lord. That even when we don't see a way out of a difficult situation, God is bigger than that situation and He will surprise us.

Let us all be surprised by the love and goodness of the Lord today! God Bless you!
