Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Friends,
Over the past two Sunday Gospel’s, the Church has been going through Mark 10. Jesus has been getting swarmed with questions from people of marriage and divorce and other time by the rich man asking how he can inherit eternal life. This week is a captivating question from James and John. “Grant that in your glory we may sit one at your right and the other at your left”. [v. 35]. Quite a booming questions coming from the Sons of Thunder.
But what strikes me most is what precedes this question, the command coming from the brothers, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” [v. 35]. What great expectant faith they must have! The boldness of the approach of the brothers is attractive and admiring. How many times, I do not have the trust nor faith that the Lord will provide. That He is even listening. James and John saw Jesus provide and listen. Do we not see how Jesus is providing, listening, and receiving us every day?
May we pray for the increase of expectant faith and hope. For God is always with us.
