Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

In today's Gospel, we are reminded of the importance of humility. I am always comforted by Jesus' words: "Although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned, you have revealed them to little ones" (Mt 11:25). We don't have to have doctorate degrees or years and years of life lessons under our belt - God has revealed Himself in a way that everyone can understand. His Love for us is not complex and confusing and conditional - it is simple, clear, and unconditional. What a relief to know that we can receive God's love just as we are! And the more humility we have, the better. God does not love us for what we do but for who we are. Let us embrace being a little one!

Another source of comfort is hearing that God does in fact reveal Himself to us. Sometimes reconciling our life experiences with the Truth of the Gospel can be difficult and confusing but today we are reassured that God does make Himself and His presence known in our lives. He does not hide from us or try to deceive us. Let us pray for meek and humble hearts!

God bless,

Amy Burghardt
