The Ascension of the Lord, Seventh Sunday of Easter

Dear Brother and Sister,

Today we are invited into the most Sacred Heart of Jesus and his relationship with the Father! We are introduced into His prayer! What we find here is the love He has for the Father and the love he has for us! We Art in the context of his eminent passion and death, therefore what he prays for is what he finds most important! Of all things, what would you do you think would be most important? Maybe the cure of cancer? Maybe the end of war? Happiness for everyone? Wealth for all?

It is very significant that he prays for unity: "that they may all be one" (Ut unum sint). Yet, it is not any unity but the same unity that is experienced in the Trinity! This is very meaningful because He wants us to be as He is! With love as the main thing that moves us! If this happens all the rest will be added onto it. When we are united we are truly unstoppable!

Now, this is not easy! Especially today as we experience such division! So many people are closed in the way they think and not willing to listen to the other. It is very eloquent that the root of the word devil means "the one who divides". Jesus is the opposite, he unites people! Therefore every time we work for unity we are doing the work of Jesus! He teaches us that to build a unity we need to sacrifice for each other! Today in families or friends or in the workspace or where we study we sometimes see so little willingness to sacrifice for others. Therefore the work of Jesus is not fulfilled. We continue to be isolated because we are not willing to go out of our comfort zone, convinced that it is the other who needs to do that for us.

Following the invitation of Christ I want to beg and encourage you in a very special way to be a builder of unity. To learn little by little to sacrifice yourself so that we might be more united. This is how others will end up believing in Christ and finding life as he himself said: "that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me." People will truly know God loves them as they see the love that we have for each other! This is the best evangelization! Have a blessed mass and Sunday!
