Christmas Party
Advent has only just begun, but it's never too soon to celebrate Christmas! Be sure to attend Drexel Newman's annual Christmas party on Saturday, December 6th at the Paul Peck Center! Dinner, cooked by world-renowned chef Michael Pantano, will be served starting at 7 PM in the 3rd floor lounge. Cookies and basic decorating supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own!
Marian Procession
Join Drexel Newman Catholic Community in walking with our Mother Mary in a procession carrying a statue of Mary from the Dornsife Center through the Drexel and Penn campuses to Saint Agatha and James Church (3728 Chestnut). The procession is on the vigil of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Those processing will ask God to answer their special prayer requests through the intercession of the Mother of Jesus. Rain or shine, the procession will take place starting at 4 p.m. at the Dornsife Community Center (3509 Spring Garden). Slowly and prayerfully, the procession will carry a statue of Mary through the streets of the community.
Participants may join the procession at any point along it's route. After the mass, there will be hot soup and bread available at the Newman Center.
Immaculate Conception
On Monday December 8th, we will be celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This great feast celebrates Mary's sinless nature, setting her up to be the perfect vessel to bring God into the world. It is a Holy Day of Obligation, and you therefore have to make it to mass. Saints Agatha and James will be holding masses at 7:30am and 12:05pm in the Church (3728 Chestnut). Confusingly, there may be vigil masses for the Immaculate Conception at some churches on Sunday. These count for your Monday obligation, but WON'T count for your Sunday obligation, and you will therefore have to also attend either another Sunday mass or a Saturday vigil.
Finals Schedule
It's no surprise that Finals Week tends to get a bit crazy, but Drexel Newman is here to make things easier! Starting December 8th, and ending December 12th, the Newman office will be available for available for study purposes. The office will be unlocked and stocked with snacks, food, and drinks--so feel free to stop by!
